Small businesses in South Somerset are being offered help to improve their profile on the internet.
The free training will be running throughout September and October to businesses in Wincanton, Castle Cary, Bruton, Milborne Port, Chard, Crewkerne, Ilminster, Langport, Somerton, South Petherton, and Martock.
Despite the training being offered to small businesses, a district council spokesperson said that they would also welcome anyone from the towns listed above who are thinking about starting a business too.
Councillor Angie Singleton, chairman of the Market Towns Investment Group, said: “An audit to assess the digital presence of businesses in town centres showed there was a need for business training to enable small businesses to have well-considered and a targeted marketing on websites and social media.
“Over 70% of consumers use the internet for customer service enquiries so hopefully the digital marketing training will empower businesses to reach customers and bring success to help promote our towns and drive footfall.”
The courses range from basic web design and social media to digital strategy and GDPR.
Businesses can also apply for a Digital High Street grant from South Somerset District Council, a story we’ve also reported on – find out more here.
